Beaches
Menorca is famous for having a beach for everyday of the year, though most of them are small tree-lined Calas or secluded Coves. The larger beaches are popular and sandy. Son Bou has a long stretch of golden sand, Santo Tomas is a gentle shelving beach, Playa de Arenal, Cala'n Bosch are both worth a visit, as is the gorgeous, picturesque Cala Galdana, which has won many awards. There are also numerous hidden gems, a few favourites are: Cala Mitjana, Cala Turqueta and Cala Macarella which are stunning beaches, although they get a little busy during Aug, but at the start and end of the season tend to be quieter.

Mount Toro
This gorgeous spot is situated in the heart of the island and is Menorca's highest point, commands incredible 360 degree views of the countryside and coastline, and on a clear day you will be able to see Majorca. At the summit, there is a simple, tapestry-hung Renaissance church, a large statue of Christ and a convent. All have become sites of pilgrimage following the strange legend that a local bull discovered a statue of the Virgin here hidden in the rock.

Ciutadella
Huddled around a quaint harbour, this charming town is Menorca's religious capital and offers plenty of sightseeing. Visit the ornamental Cathedral and Palace Torre Sauro, the pretty Old Town, with its winding, narrow lanes. For lunch, head for the waterside and if you've time, why not stay till evening. If you're in Menorca in June, make a date with Ciutadella's fiesta, when daredevil horse riders compete in racing and jousting contests in the streets.

Local Activities
There is plenty to do in Menorca, but watersports is the main activity in most resorts. Scuba-diving is available in many schools, from the beginner to the experienced. There's one golf 14 hole course on the island, at Son Parc. For those who like to cycle or walk, the island is encircled by the Cami de Cavalls, a famous walking path. Walking tours can be booked with a guide. Other sports available include bowling, tennis, squash, and horse-riding. And for a fun day out there's an Aquapark in Cala'n Bosch and one in Ciutadella which makes for a great day out.
